Parrots are known to live long. Larger varieties can last up to 100 years old while the smaller ones can be from 15 to 30 years old. For this reason, before even buying one, you should be prepared that it might be a lifetime duty in caring for such.
First Few Days
When the bird first comes home, it is normal that it is first quiet. Allow the bird to be comfortable and feel and feel safe with everyone’s company. For the first few days, the owner’s aim is to gain the trust of the pet. Experienced trainers of birds of this type would say that cockatoos and ringnecks are much easier to handle and train than the active cockatiels. If you want the type that can learn more words in a short span of time, go for budgerigars.
Taming the parrot is the owner’s duty. But the outcome of such activity would also lead to fun and enjoyment for your whole family. Just give it time, allow the bird to feel your affection and learn to trust the people around it and after a while, the bird will learn to blend in.
