Six Parrots You Can Choose From And Bring Home
If you want to own a parrot, keep in mind that there are several species to choose from. You should know how to take care of them so they can live for a long time and here are six parrots that you can choose from and bring home.
1. First is the African Grey that happens to be the best sound imitator among the species. Although you can feed it bird seeds, it is best to give them pellets. You may also include fresh vegetables, fruits and other supplemental foods to maintain a good diet.
2. Then there are the Canaries. What makes them different from the rest is that there are three types to choose from namely color, song and type. You should know that these birds are very territorial so make such they have enough space to move around.
3. If you don’t want to own a dog, then perhaps you will be happy teaching the Cockatiel some tricks. These birds can live for about 15 to 20 years and the best way to make sure of that is never to leave it alone in the dark because they are prone to self injury.
4. Another is the Lovebird that is one of the smallest among the species. If you want to have two of them around, be sure that these are housed in different cages because they are known to be aggressive towards the opposite sex.
5. Parrotlets are also small but are not afraid of the dark. They chirp every so often which is okay since it is not too loud.
6. A little bit bigger than the Love bird is the Senegal Parrots. They also imitate sounds like the African Grey and should always be kept indoors. Otherwise, the bird will escape.
Just to give you an idea, there are over 350 species of parrots and the best part is that nearly all of them make great pets that can easily be cared for. It will have to be caged, fed properly and checked regularly by a qualified vet so it will be able to stay with you for a long period of time.
