Choosing the Right Parrot Cage

A good parrot cage is important if you wish to have a happy parrot for a pet. Parrot cages are also important for parrot breeding. A parrot will only breed well if he is relaxed and comfortable in his cage. It should also be spacious enough so that your pet parrot can easily move about.

One of the important things to consider in choosing the right parrot cage would be the size. For different parrots, experts have recommended different parrot cage sizes. Since there are quite a number of parrot breeds available, it is important that you know the type of parrot breed that you have as well as the right type of cage size for it.

For different parrots there are cage sizes to choose from depending on the breed of pet parrot you have. If you have been taking care of a Blue Crown Conure or an African Grey Parrot, a cage size with dimensions of 18 x 18 x 18 inches would prove to be the ideal one. The same cage size goes for people who are taking care of Senegal Parrots and Eclectus Parrots as pets.

For people who are taking care of Macaws, the Amazon Parrot or Quaker Parrot for a pet, a cage size with a dimension of 30 x 30 x 30 inches would be satisfactory. For Umbrella Cockatoos, a cage dimension of 36 x 30 x 72 inches would be the ideal size. For Conures, a 20 x 20 x 24 inches cage would be enough to keep your pet comfortable and relaxed.

If you are taking care of a Goffin Cockatoo, a 48 x 36 x 48 inch parrot cage would provide enough space for your pet. The same size can be used for the Moluccan Cockatoo as a pet. A Rose Breasted Cockatoo would do well in a cage that measures 36 x 36 x 36 inches in dimension. Since they are smaller, Quaker Parakeets can make do in cages sized at 18 x 22 x 24 inches. Budgies go for 20 x 12 x 18 while Cockatiels can be relaxed in a cage with 18 x 18 x 24 inches in dimension.

Aside from size, another important thing that parrot cages should have are feeding utensils as well as large doors big enough for your pet parrot to fit in without being stressed. Water cups should be accessible from outside of the cages. Toys in the parrot cages should also be considered since they can provide your pet parrot with some activities to do and keep them fit and healthy.
